One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure

Do you get excited watching reality shows on HGTV that feature folks searching for items to breathe new life into as they are reused, recycled and upcycled? I do! I love watching Trash to Treasure, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars. It is exciting to watch the joy people experience in the creative process of finding something old and making it new.

You have probably heard it said, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” or perhaps like this “One man’s pain, is another man’s pleasure.” The latter quote is how I feel about running – it’s pain to me but I know it’s pleasure to my 10K and marathon running friends.

I will not ask you to run a marathon, but I will challenge you to be inspired by this tale, as told by StelTek Graphics, one of our creative and motivated dealers, of how one shop gave new life to several dormant Mark Bric products.

Marcia at StelTek recounts, “Years ago we purchased two multi master banner stands for a client. Somewhere in the process they changed their mind, but we decided to keep the units because we knew we could sell them. Seriously…it may have been 5 years ago.

We also had some big Snappy Frames we ordered a few years ago for a different customer. They loved the look of the frame but decided they were too large for their need; so they re-ordered smaller sizes.  Of course, we kept those no longer needed big frames too.  We also had a spare Banner-Up Plus unit hanging around ready to go in our shop. These treasures were just waiting on the right customer to get pleasure from them.

Recently, we got the opportunity to use those Mark Bric products. Having them on hand allowed us to expediently create an awesome, classy display for a customer who called us on a Friday and needed a display in a hurry for a reception on Monday in Pittsburgh (about 2 hrs. away)!!!  Talk about fast improvisation!

We got everything done at 2 AM on Monday morning and the client swung by a bit later that same morning just prior to leaving for his event.  Everything worked and we had one happy customer! Hurray for spare Mark Bric displays and parts… and of course for a good in-house team!”
